During the month of April, the Community gathered around our Rev. Bishop Joseph Nazzaro (Head of the Latin church in Syria); after the meal, he took part in the Administration Board meeting. This allowed us to know each other better and to discuss some topics related to Al-Safina life. In addition to their regular activities with several families and the Douelaa group, the family outreach program team paid several visits to villages around Damascus (Saydnaya, Kousseir, etc…) in order to have families with handicapped persons accept their disabled children and learn how to deal with them. We are in the process of setting up a website that will improve communication between us and between Al-Safina and other L’Arche communities in the world. By logging into our website www.larchesyria.com you will soon be able to find all need information about Al-Safina (and also send us your orders for our workshop products). For those of our friends who would like to have a closer participation in the life of Al-Safina we think about offering “sponsorship” possibilities : you would be able to take in charge the whole or part of the expenses relative to one of the handicapped persons living in our community; you will then receive regular news about this person, you will be able to know her and visit her periodically. Further informations about this “sponsorship” will be given later this year.
